Who we are

At Haagse Helpers, we dream of a socially connected city where young people are committed to helping their fellow citizens.

Our Mission:
Haagse Helpers is a community of volunteers building a socially connected city. Young people help fellow residents, inspire each other, and thrive themselves.

About us

Conceived in 2017 and brought to life in 2018. What started with an introduction between the TijdVoorActie Foundation and Alex Haas, grew into the foundation of a new foundation: De Haagse Helpers.

Alex, an enthusiastic, passionate person with a strong network, a passion for young people and a lot of experience in volunteer work, took the first steps for what would later become the Haagse Helpers Foundation.

A few years later, we have grown into a volunteer organization of young people who want to commit to a connected city. Our Haagse Helpers support fellow citizens with practical tasks, small jobs, or simply by having a cup of coffee together. This is how we contribute to a socially connected The Hague.

But we are more than just a volunteer organization, we are a community. By not only helping others, but also participating in activities that are organized by and for our volunteers, we grow, inspire each other and flourish together.

Our efforts have led to two awards as Hague Volunteer Organization of the Year. In 2020, we received the first prize, and last November we were able to accept the second prize in Madurodam.

Core values Haagse Helpers

Connection: We are a network and community where connection is central.

Attention: We pay attention to each other and fellow citizens by being present and giving space to everyone connected to Haagse Helpers.

Development: Our volunteers develop themselves personally by helping others, and are provided with training, workshops and practical experiences for this.

Inspiration: We inspire young people to help vulnerable fellow citizens; this contact outside their own bubble provides inspiration
