Make an impact too!
Together, our volunteers make The Hague a little more beautiful by helping, meeting, and connecting with others.
Replacing a light bulb, walking a dog, or cooking a meal: impact is often found in the little things. You can make a big difference with just a small gesture.
We are also all about connection and togetherness. That’s why we organize monthly activities and workshops where volunteers can meet each other.
That’s how we make an impact.
Volunteer work & activities
As a Haagse Helper (16-30 years old), you get moving to help fellow citizens through volunteer work in The Hague. Doing groceries, baking pancakes, or helping with moving: your help can be of great value to someone else. Together with other young people, you put your talents and qualities to practical use for others.
MDT YourCube
Are you between 14 and 30 years old and do you want to discover your strengths while making a difference for others? Over six months, you’ll spend 80 hours on volunteer work that you choose yourself, matching your talents, interests, and schedule. You’ll meet new people, gain valuable experience, and develop skills that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
During the process, a personal mentor is ready to help you grow and look together at which place suits you best. A fun, educational, and impactful experience that truly matches who you are.
Training &
workshops
A workshop is organized every month with a new theme. Sometimes you learn to build new habits, then you train your coaching skills and another time you get a crash course in theater. When you register as a volunteer, we will keep you informed of the offer. You are welcome to join!
MDT Mission
The Social Service Time Mission is a personal development program in which young people (17-30 years) discover their talent, strength, and social value and use it for others.
During a three-day bivouac, you will be challenged both physically and mentally on a military base. After that, you will spend another 40 hours working for society by doing volunteer work that suits you. Ready for a challenge?

Frequently asked questions
What is the procedure if I register as a volunteer?
You can register via this website. We will receive your details in our email and will then contact you within a week. We will then schedule an introductory meeting to find out who you are, what your talents are, and what your wishes are. We will then add you to our WhatsApp group where requests for help and activities are shared.
We will keep in touch during your deployment. For example, if you are a buddy or after you have performed a one-off activity, we would like to hear how you are doing. What is going well and what could be improved? Maybe you are running into something or have a great story to share? We would love to hear it and are here for you.
Do I get anything for the volunteer work?
A reimbursement is available for any expenses that the volunteer work entails. We also appreciate your efforts: you will occasionally receive a card or a small gift as a token of gratitude.
But the most important thing is that you make the difference. Even if it sometimes seems like something small, it has an impact. Volunteering also contributes to your mental well-being and a positive mindset. You develop yourself, discover your talents, expand your network, and collect valuable experiences.
How do you ensure a safe physical and social environment during the volunteer work?
At Haagse Helpers, a safe physical and social environment for volunteers and those asking for help is of paramount importance. To stimulate this environment, we use a code of conduct, among other things. This states what is and is not desired in the interaction between volunteers and between volunteers and vulnerable people.
Do you have any questions or do you want to share something? Then you can always contact us, and we also have an independent confidential advisor who is ready for you.
